Stay one step ahead with alternative cold treatments for little ones

All items reviewed are available at One Step Ahead. Please check out their site; it's great one-stop shopping for busy parents.

To enter the contest, please share how you and your family currently treat colds and the flu. For example, I use a chest rub on Buttercup for congestion and give her honey to fight coughs. Also, your entry MUST include which prize you prefer: the humidier or the alternative cold remedy gift pack which includes the remaining items reviewed in the vlog.

Your entry will not count without this information, nor will it count if you tell me you want both. Oh, and U.S. entries only, please.

Entries will be accepted until midnight, EST, Feb. 11, 2009 and the winners will have four business days from the announcement date to contact me with their information or an alternate will be selected.

Additional extra entries are also available if you:

* If you are already a facebook fan of either group, let me know in a comment on my fans page for your extra entry for this contest.
* subscribe to my RSS feed and comment letting me know you did so.
* Blog about contest and link to this post.
* Non-bloggers can email three of their friends about the contest at berriesweet.info (at) gmail (dot) com and CC me on the email. Girl Scout's honor that I will never bother these sweet people. I promise!

To treat the cold and flu, we: drink lots of liquids, and get extra sleep or rest. If a child is congested, we stand in the bathroom with the child while another adult family member is taking a hot steamy shower. (We don't want to waste water running a hot shower with no one in it simply so we can breathe the warm air!) Breathing the warm, moist air from the shower eases congestion in both children and adults.

I currently treat my sons illness with exstra fluids and TLC. He has not been severly ill so far (knocking on the desk). We hve only had one night of 2 hours of vomiting in 10 1/2 months.

I would like the Alternative cold remedy gift pack.

I would like to win the alternative cold remedy gift pack.

When my kids start showing signs of sickness I do up the OJ serving, make sure I remember their mulitivitamins, and also give them natural remedies by Hyland's company.
For myself I actually do use a Neti Pot and it works well.

When I have sick little ones, we use lots of Vicks vapor rub, hot baths, and our humidifier. Extra fluids, and there is normally some childrens tylenol in there somewhere!!
I would love the Alternative cold remedy gift pack!

I put echinacea in their drink at the first sign of a cold. We take lots of steamy baths and showers and my favorite: vicks vapo rub on your feet! Works great!

(I'm following you on blogger, I already follow you on twitter @taderdoodles, and I put a button on my blog!)

Great job here!

(my pick: the alternative pack)

for a yucky cough, we turn the shower to hot and sit in the bathroom for 15 minutes or so, we also rub children's vicks on the bottom of their feet to treat cough. We use lots of tlc and a lovely "booger sucker".. lol!

We use humidifiers, lavender oil (add some to the bath/humidifier or mix some with a little oil and put it under the nose), netti pot or Sinucleanse (I prefer the sinucleanse to the nettipot, personally) and buckwheat honey. Oh and Emergen-C and the faux Airborne (generic store-brand) to the kids who aren't yet sick. And we all do lots of water.

I think I'd opt for the humidifier. We've wanted to get one for the kids' room.

Right now we have chicken noodle soup, hot tea with honey and on the little one we use organic peppermint oil which really clears her sinuses! I would love to win the humidifier- ours just went kaput and we really need one! Thanks for the chance!
