Clean those curly locks (the right way)

Have you ever had a bad hair day?

Oh, you have?

Well, whoopie for you! I have you beat! Cuz, in my book, a bad hair QUATER CENTURY pretty much wins that pity contest. (Who's got a violin?)

I was, ahem!, blessed with some majorly kinky curls, which, when not cared for properly, led to my being mistaken for a renegafe Chia Pet. And let's just say that I new SweetER (that would be my hubby)was here to stay the first time he saw me in the morning, looking like I had decided to stick my finger in a light socket just for the hell of it.

I'd post pictures for proof, but I'd like to maintain at least a sliver of dignity here. But feel free to point and laugh at the images in your head.

In my quest for curl control, I have tried E_V_E_R_Y_T_H_I_N_G under the sun, from chemically straightening it (bad idea), to extensions (not so bad of an idea), to the cheap and the expensive for hair cair products designed to make me look a little less like a black show poodle and more like I wasn't embarrased to leave the house.

Unfortunately for me, nothing worked, until I discovered Mixed Chicks Hair Products a few years ago. And yes, curly-haired Mommas, this is indeed when the heavens parted above and the angels started singing.

I love, love, love their shampoo, ($11.99 for a 10 oz. bottle) which is designed to get corkscrew curls squeaky clean. You get a rich lather that adds protein and strength, and a clean head of curls to love.

Most curly-haired chicks already know this, but the curlier the 'do, the drier and more fragile the hair. And since our hairs natural oil's help keep our thick and slinky-like locks under control, Mixed Chicks recommends limiting shampooing to no more than two times per week.

Want to give it a shot for yourself or your curly-headed kid? Just visit the Mixed Chicks site and then leave me a berrie (read: comment) telling me what other product you'd love to see reviewed on my blog. I'll pick one luck winner at random at midnight (EST) on July 27 and post to PRIZEYWinners.

Good luck!

Boy have I got some curls to tame! This looks great; I am so tired of having leave in conditioner in my hair weighing it down just to try to tame them.
I'd love to see that Hair Silk reviewed also! It looks very promising.

My hair is a mess, and unfortunately my daughter got my hair. So both of us could really use this. I would also love for you to review the Hair Silk before I give it a try. Thanks so much for the opportunity.

I'd like to see the Deep Conditioner reviewed. My ultra-frizzy natural curls are a daily struggle and I envy those with thick shanks of healthy, straight low maintenance hair! And if hear one more 'oh but you're so lucky to have naturally curs', I think I'll throw up . . .
:)

I have very dry, thick, course hair so I would LOVE it if you could review the deep conditioner. I have tried SO MANY over the years and I have yet to find anything that really works and makes my hair soft and shiny.

Thank you for a great giveaway!

Finally, something for us curly haired chicks to help prevent frizzies! I'd love for you to review the leave-in conditioner. I love leave-ins for the summer but it's been a really long time since I've found any good ones! jeepcutie82 at msn dot com

This would be the greatest gift for my sister! When she turned 11ish, started to go through puberty, she had a large splotch on the back of her head that turned crazy frizzy. Just a large splotch, the rest was straight. She went through the most horrid few hair years, and eventually it all pretty much turned curly. She's gotten good at styling it now, but I know she has to work at it so much harder and has a hard time finding great products. Thanks for the review and giveaway!! Oh, and would like to hear your review about the hair silk product. laurachilton {at} hotmail {dot} com

My kids all have curly hair, so I'd love to try the trio. If I have to pick just one from the trio, the deep conditioner. The hair silk sounds wonderful too. I'm going to bookmark that site. I really want to try a bunch of their products on my kids. We have had no luck with anything I've tried on them.

How did I not know about this company's line of products until now? I am so excited! My daughter's hair is exactly like the girls on the site. I would love you to review the His Mix line too. My son has the same texture of hair as my daughtter but his curls are a bit looser. He tends to keep it cut very, very short but it's so dry and his scalp is so dry all the time too.

Bless you for telling us about this site. I'm bookmarking it. I'm so fired up!

I'd be interested in how the leave-in conditioner/styling cream handles fine ringlets like mine. Most reviews seem to lump together all curly hair types, but there is a big difference between handling fine, flyaway curls versus course, heavy curls.

I got Mom's stick strait hair and my sister got corkscrew curls from Dad. I'd love to win this for her. I think she'd also love the deep conditioner.

I would like you to hear your review of the leave-in conditioner/styling cream. I am always looking for a product to control my frizz and this sounds like it may do that. I would love to hear if it works for you especially since your hair sounds like it is curlier than mine. This is a great giveaway and I really hope I win. Thanks.
